La vendemmia perfetta! Brunello 2010

  • La vendemmia perfetta! Brunello 2010

By now everyone knows that our events are developed above all 'inside the glass' because we are convinced that the wine should first be drunk and then read, we do not want to be influenced even by the technical sheet of the production cellar, we do not want to look into the wine what we read .
No one has to convince us that a wine we like, no one has to justify a wine that we do not like. If we like it, it will be extremely interesting to get into it, get to know it, studying the vintage, the terroir, the winery techniques and the style of the producer.

I reproduce what was written in a previous article by Stefano, a historic friend and passionate of the group:
'... we have patented forms for each evaluation, we have evaluations capable of disassembling a glass of wine in the basic components, evaluators capable of analyzing those components and giving everyone a vote. There is no doubt that quality is always to be expected and defended. But are we able to evaluate the wine based on the pleasure given? Are we sure that the wine consumer knows how to combine quality with pleasure? Should not it be a duty to promote this combination to make the audience of good producers and good consumers grow?

Second important factor, which makes us extremely free in our judgments, is that there is no economic convenience, no link or favor. No one is paid, the good speaker shows us, the good taster guides us, the wines are offered at cost price (often even below cost), the restaurant owner makes available to us.
In this ideal condition, inside an atmosphere of serene friendship where often the comparison becomes extremely constructive confrontation, we are ready for tasting, assisted and pampered, as always, by the legendary Roberto and his staff of Griglia e Cucina "... no promotion I can not, but if you are in the area a friend's advice I'll give it to you, stop! ... ".

Guide our evening to our lively friend and sommelier Dave. Introduction with some technical notions on production areas, land and wine served. For those who want to read the data sheets are ready. It starts.

BARBI BRUNELLO MONTALCINO DOCG 2010 LT.1,5 MAGNUM
Clear, even bright in its garnet-colored timbre, an unexpected character for a Brunello. It is feminine, sapid elegant and fine, of a beautiful drink and an excellent quality-price ratio.

TEN. GOOD TIME BRUNELLO DOCG RISERVA 2010
In contrast to the one described above, here is what a Brunello usually expects: dark red, masculine, warm nose of ripe fruit that we also find in the mouth, with an intense finish of juicy tannin.

ANTINORI PIAN OF THE VINEYARDS BRUNELLO DOCG 2010
After a pleasant initial rustic nose, probably due to a skillful hand in dosing techniques and woods, everything disappears, so much so that our eclectic Dave calls it "an early ejaculation". Everything ends too quickly and remains very little.

CASTLE OF ROMITORIO RISERVA DOCG 2010
Only the memory I now have in describing it gives me great pleasure. It is an immense wine that illuminates, as Ungaretti would say.
A hot blow we called it explosive, broad, complex, "a lot of stuff", so rich that every olfattazione is reality to itself, you have to hear and feel it because every time are new emotions, I would say beautiful.
The nose is a rewarding, protective and reassuring Spa, where we go to detach ourselves from the world, where we recharge with its fragrant peppermint and dried flowers, while near you have a greedy, juicy and inviting dish of cherries and cherries.
The riannusi, here are the tertiaries: you're in a smoker, pipe tobacco, resins, spices and still riannusi and you're in a forest: humus, leaves and mushrooms.
The mouth is thick, enveloping and consolatory, never trivial, each component does not dominate the other and is perfectly integrated, everything expands in a perfect balance in a harmony of unique flavors, where acidity, tannin and sapidity dance together; no need to describe them and look for them individually, but only the taste of savoring them. A simply 'immense' wine.

LISINI BRUNELLO MONTALCINO DOCG UGOLAIA 2010
We defined it as 'skating', snooty and snobbish: cherry and chocolate. It is supported by good acidity and sapidity that make it pleasant, without being opulent. Fashion show.

BANFI BRUNELLO DOCG POGGIO ALL'ORO 2010
We called it the "Tuscan": beautiful in its 'chianti' character made of rustic notes and dense woods, an extremely pleasant wine.

POGGIO DI SOTTO BRUNELLO MONTALCINO DOCG 2010
Here is the other champion wine of the evening together with Castello di Romitorio.
If the first one widened in the immensity of a sea to be discovered, this is a deep wine, it is the discovery of a coral to admire at the bottom of the sea, fascinating, precious, intense, long and clean. The nose stops and enjoys all this. Powerful, elegant, clear and clear in its recognitions, satisfying in the mouth.

GAJA SANTA RESTITUTA BRUNELLO 2011 (THE INTRUDER) TO CIECA
Out of the program, the group immediately recognizes the Sangiovese vine and the area of Tuscany. The wine is very well done, precise and clean. We should have recognized the 'Master' hand, but no one thought of it, once the bottle was discovered, it could only be 'Him'!
